It is bounded on the East side by the Falomo bridge and the 7 floor Multi-storey Car Park on the North side.   The building is a three story Jetty Terminal building (LASWA Head Office) with a GIA of 2,010 m. sq. incorporating berthing space for 20 boats. The development is designed to take full advantage of the views along the water front. This concept is expressed by the full curtain wall on the south façade of the building as well as the circular perforated window openings on the cladding wall on the east and west sides. The north side façade is merged with the roof which shields the service zone from direct view. The white scheme allows the form to be expressed.   The building’s context makes it visible from different views and heights, hence the design as the building will be seen from all aspects. The site covers an area of 37,000 sqm and as part of the LDS social responsibility to the host community, a 2km bridge over a river was constructed by the client to enhance access to the site and communities beyond. Completion and dedication took place in July 2005. The new Cathedral went a long way to retain a substantial number of the original Cathedral’s artefacts such as the stained-glass windows, the pulpit and numerous plagues. The new 800-seater Cathedral accommodated 600 seats on the ground floor and a further 200 seats in the gallery. It consists of over 700 seating capacity church auditorium, a 3 storey support building (housing a partitionable multi-purpose hall, chapel, clinic, office, library, Sunday classes, apartments and so on), extensive parking and a lush garden/recreational area for ceremonial outdoor events and occasions. The main hall is situated within a modern staggered A-frame form that achieves a skylight filtering a kaleidoscopic natural light effect internally. Large curtain wall panels on the side punctuate the A-frame allowing more light into the interior spaces which subdues its huge mass whilst creating continuous features to compliment the overall form of the building.
