Winning Architectural Design for Africa Re Head Office, Abuja, Nigeria

Our office was fortunate to win the tender for the architectural design for the development of the proposed Africa Re Corporate headquarters building in the Central Business District, Abuja, Nigeria.

The African Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re) is the leading pan-African reinsurance company and the largest reinsurer in Africa in terms of net reinsurance written premiums.

Africa Re was set up by 36 African states in 1976, following a recommendation by the African Development Bank (AfDB), with the mission of developing the insurance and reinsurance industry in Africa through increased underwriting and retention capacities, and support to African economic development.

Our design:
Africa Re is a Head-Office Building with a modern and outstanding design that will provide first class facilities (Grade A) on one hand and a sustainable and energy efficient design on the other.

This has led to the bold solid canopy frame that covers the main glazed spaces below thereby effectively shading them from the sun. It is a 12-Floor Building (including a Basement) that provides about 24,500sqm of Gross Floor Area; sitting on a sloping site of about 5,800sqm.
